The Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles put together a complete performance on Friday, shutting out Trinity College Jacksonville 8-0 behind dominant pitching and a strong offensive showing.
On the mound, Drew Ellsworth and Luke Pruitt were outstanding, combining for a shutout. Ellsworth set the tone early, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. Pruitt followed with four shutout innings of his own, closing the game with confidence and striking out the final batter.
The Eagles got the offense rolling in the second inning when Branson Dykes delivered a clutch triple, driving in two runs. TFC added another run in the inning with an aggressive steal of home to take early control.
In the third, Cole Smith broke the game open with a three-run home run to center field, extending the lead and giving the Eagles full momentum. Aiden Dumas added to the power surge with a solo home run in the fifth.
Toccoa Falls stayed consistent at the plate, finishing with 12 hits. Dykes, Ryan McCarron, Conner Merritt, and Dumas all recorded multi-hit games, while the team also showed discipline by drawing seven walks.
The Eagles were active on the bases as well, swiping three bags and applying constant pressure. Defensively, TFC stayed sharp, turning a double play and playing solid, mistake-free baseball.
It was a complete team win for the Screaming Eagles, combining dominant pitching, timely hitting, and aggressive base running. Toccoa Falls will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup against Trinity College Jacksonville on Saturday.
