Game 1 Recap
Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles dropped a heartbreaker to Bob Jones, 10-9, on Friday night in a back-and-forth battle that came down to the final play. The game was tied at nine heading into the bottom of the eighth inning before Bob Jones delivered a walk-off hit to secure the win.
The Eagles came out strong early, getting on the board in the first inning when Ryan McCarron drove in a run with a double. Bob Jones responded quickly and the two teams traded momentum throughout the game, with multiple lead changes keeping the contest tight the entire way.
Toccoa Falls regained control in the fifth and sixth innings with a big offensive surge. Carson Fuchs and Cole Smith each drove in key runs, while McCarron delivered again with a bases-clearing double in the sixth to give the Eagles the lead.
At the plate, Toccoa Falls finished with 13 hits and showed strong discipline, drawing seven walks and adding pressure on the base paths with stolen bases. Fuchs led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, while McCarron drove in four runs to anchor the offense.
Despite the strong performance, Bob Jones answered late, tying the game with a home run in the sixth before eventually walking it off in the eighth to hand the Eagles a tough loss.
Game 2 Recap
Toccoa Falls responded in a big way on Saturday, bouncing back with a 9-5 victory over Bob Jones to even the series.
The Eagles got on the board first in the opening inning after Branson Dykes worked a bases-loaded walk to bring in a run. Bob Jones briefly took the lead in the second inning with a two-run home run, but that would be their only real momentum of the game.
Toccoa Falls flipped the game in the third inning with a huge seven-run explosion. The offense came alive with timely hitting and patience at the plate, highlighted by a two-run double from Peyton Powell that helped break the game open and give the Eagles an 8-2 lead.
On the mound, Carson Fuchs started the game before the bullpen stepped up in a big way. Sidney Phillips, Tyler Robert, and Josh Ramey combined to shut down Bob Jones for the remainder of the game, allowing the Eagles to maintain control.
Offensively, Powell and Cole Smith each collected multiple hits, while Dykes and Powell led the team in RBIs. The Eagles also showed strong discipline again, drawing eight walks and consistently putting pressure on the Bruins’ pitching staff.
The combination of explosive offense and strong relief pitching helped Toccoa Falls secure the win and set up a decisive Game 3.
Game 3 Recap
Toccoa Falls closed out the series in dominant fashion with a 27-17 win over Bob Jones in a high-scoring offensive showcase on Saturday.
The Eagles wasted no time getting started, scoring multiple runs in the first and second innings to jump out to an early lead. However, Bob Jones responded with big innings of their own, keeping the game close through the middle innings.
The turning point came in the sixth inning when Toccoa Falls broke a tie with a huge offensive outburst. Bricen Blankenship delivered a key hit to drive in runs, and Logan Elble followed with a grand slam to give the Eagles a commanding lead.
The offense continued to roll in the seventh inning, adding nine more runs to completely take control of the game. The Eagles finished with 15 hits, with multiple players contributing big performances. Cole Smith led the way with seven RBIs, while Logan Elble added four RBIs, including the grand slam.
Toccoa Falls also showed patience at the plate once again, drawing nine walks and taking advantage of scoring opportunities throughout the game.
Despite Bob Jones putting up 17 runs, the Eagles’ explosive offense proved too much to overcome, allowing Toccoa Falls to secure the series win in convincing fashion.
