Toccoa Falls Men's Soccer Captures First South Region Championship Since 2012

The Toccoa Falls men's soccer team made history this season by securing their first South Region Championship since 2012 and punching their ticket to the national tournament. This season also marked the program's highest win total in nearly a decade. TFC surpassed their previous high of 8 wins, a benchmark that had stood since 2015, making this the winningest season in over 10 years.

The Eagles opened regional play against 2-seed Pensacola Christian. After a hard-fought 2-2 draw through regulation and two overtimes, the match went to penalty kicks, winning the shootout 4-3 to advance to the finals.

Before 2024, BJU held a 17-0-0 historic record over TFC dating back to 2012. After a scoreless first meeting earlier in the season, the teams found themselves on a draw; the first non-loss in program history against the Bruins. The championship match against 1-see Bob Jones University was every bit as intense. The Eagles and Bruins found themselves once again on a draw. After 2 OT and with only 37 seconds left on the clock, the Eagles broke through, scoring the game-winning goal to secure the South Region title and their spot in the national tournament.

This season was highlighted by remarkable individuals with outstanding performances across the roster.

First-Team All-Region

  • #10 Patricio Bennevendo - Forward-Winger
  • #12 Santiago Hidalgo - Defender

Second-Team All-Region

  • #5 Devin Bodnarescu – Center Back
    #3 Ekow Hudson – Forward/Winger
#13 Axel Sierra - Center Defensive Mid

In addition, head coach Nathan Lowery was named South Region Coach of the Year, recognizing his leadership in guiding the team to new heights.

Between breaking program records and capturing their first region championship in over a decade, the Eagles have established themselves as one of the most exciting teams in the South Region. Their resilience and historic postseason run have set a new standard for Toccoa Falls soccer as they head into the national tournament with faith and momentum.
